Washington Flower and Garden Show and National Cathedral Flower Mart

The Kennedy Center

Featuring much more than beautiful blooms and colorful garden displays, the Washington Flower and Garden Show and National Cathedral Flower Mart in Washington D.C. is an annual springtime festival for garden enthusiasts and flower lovers. Taking place at the Washington National Cathedral since 1939, this sweet-smelling event is perfect for families and features annuals and perennials, landscape exhibitions, garden tours, live musical entertainment, gourmet food and beverage vendors and a book sale. Children’s activities at Washington Flower and Garden Show and National Cathedral Flower Mart include a rock wall, miniature Ferris wheel, moon bounce and a 100 year-old restored carousel. Encircling the National Cathedral, this flower festival also offers over 50 booths selling gardening items, handbags, jewelry and other items. Guests at the Washington flower and garden show can also climb over 300 steps to the top of the Cathedral’s tower for a spectacular view of the festival and the surrounding city (Saturday only; $10 per person). And of course, there will be plenty of flowers everywhere for admiring, smelling, buying and simply enjoying.

Embassies from around the world will be presenting floral exhibits at the Washington Flower and Garden Show; expect to see beautiful displays from Jamaica, Australia, South Africa, Spain, Ukraine, Ecuador, India and many other countries. Each year, one embassy serves as the honorary chair of the festival, and for 2013 the event will honor the United States of America. The Washington Flower and Garden Show and National Cathedral Flower Mart takes place this year on Friday, May 3 from 10AM to 6PM and Saturday, May 4 from 10AM to 5PM. This springtime event is located on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral, located at the intersection of Wisconsin and Massachusetts Avenues.
