Rock and Roll Marathon DC
Rock and Roll marathon is coming to DC next month. This event takes a stop in DC as part of its North American tour. The event takes place on March 17th and will start and end at RFK stadium (home of our soccer team DC United). This is the only marathon to run entirely in Washington DC. Participants will enjoy a scenic journey through our nations capital. They will run past Union Station and the National Mall.
This event was established in 2006 and the marathon tour takes place in cities all over the US such as Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia and many more. They are planning to have some marathons in Scotland, Ireland, Portugal and Spain.
The marathon is limited to about 8000 participants and its a grueling 26 mile run. For those that may not want to take part in the full 26 miles, there is some good news in that a half marathon is offered. Take a look at the official site for more information.
Michael Wardian from Arlington, VA has dominated the marathon over the last few years. He won the marathon in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. This marathon will benefit several charities notably The American Cancer Society and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
