Passport DC On Embassy Row

Day in and day out, there is always something special going on in the wonderful world of international culture in Washington, DC. Well, beginning May 3, 2014, there will be something even more special that visitors of all ages will appreciate. It’s called Passport DC, which takes place each and every year on Embassy Row. Presented by Cultural Tourism DC, this eclectic event shines a bright light on the city’s embassies and cultural organizations by featuring a fascinating array of talks, exhibits and performances. Check out the series of open houses at a whole host of embassies as well as the multitude of decidedly different programs served up by many DC museums.

Here’s an idea of what you can expect at Passport DC. On Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., you can join the Around the World Embassy Tour. Embassies from Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, the Americas and Africa will deliver some pretty stirring cultural and educational programs starring everyone from teachers and artisans to lecturers and performers. The following Saturday, May 10, is Shortcut to Europe: European Union Embassies’ Open House. Starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m., this portion kick-starts Europe Month and offers a grand way to learn all about the unique EU cultures. One week later, on Saturday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m., Asian Heritage Festival – Fiesta Asia gets underway.
