DC Fashion Week

The holidays are over and the reality of winter is setting in: the stretch between plummeting temperatures and the glimmering promises of spring seems never-ending. However, there is one way to break-free of the mid-winter blues… and it doesn’t involve shoveling snow or hacking at ice. This year’s DC Fashion Week: The Power of Style is heating up the city and simultaneously showcasing all the stylish ways you can keep warm for the remainder of winter.The District’s largest exhibition of fashion apparel will occupy the city February 20-26. Throughout the week, a dynamic group of fashion designers–hailing from New York, Belgium, Ukraine and even D.C.–will showcase their 2012 fall and winter collections at this year’s 16th annual event.Founded as a partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models, DC Fashion Week was created to increase economic development in the area of fashion design and to enhance the visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion.This year, a plethora of events are on tap for the week, including an eco-fashion show, a fashion industry networking party, a show highlighting Ukraine fashion designers, an emerging designer showcase and a show dedicated to international couture collections, among others.
