Passion Pit DC – May 5 & 6 at 9:30 Club
Brilliant. Troubled. Groundbreaking. The music of Passion Pit has garnered a growing fan base for its insightful nature and charismatic front man, Michael Angelakos. Their indietronica/synthpop deals with expected topics like sex and drugs – but delve much deeper into the modern psychology, with a dose of depression, mistrust and strife. Combining a high-striding voice with squiggling synths, the band has created a recognizable sound that appeals to this generation’ style – and desperation. Passion Pit’s previous album Gossamer achieved a stellar 8.4 ranking on alt music publication Pitchfork, earning an award for “Best New Music.” Their new LP Kindred will be released on April 21, 2015, and the band is kicking off a major international tour in support of it. Based on the two singles already out, the album is expected to be a smash hit for the band.
Passion Pit will be playing at some of the biggest festivals in the world, including SXSW, Neon Desert, Buku and Big Guava. And they’ll grace the DC area with their presence for two nights, on Tuesday May 5 and Wednesday May 6. Tickets are available for advance purchase online via Vivid Seats. The show starts at 7:00PM, and the 9:30 Club is located at 815 V Street NW in Washington DC. Are you looking for comfortable, modern lodging in the DC area?
